WWDC 2026 Is Around the Corner. Here Is What to Expect
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is back, running June 8 to 12 this year with the keynote kicking off on June 8. This year is a little different though. It is the last WWDC keynote with Tim Cook as CEO before John Ternus officially takes over in September, so expect some sentimental moments alongside the usual software announcements.

You can watch it live on Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, and the Apple YouTube channel. WWDC is primarily Apple’s software show, where they preview the next year of operating system updates across all their devices, so do not expect a flood of new gadgets, even though one or two could still get teased.
This year is a little different though. It is the last WWDC keynote with Tim Cook as CEO before John Ternus officially takes over in September, so expect some sentimental moments alongside the usual software announcements. Here is what to expect from the event.
Siri Is the Main Event
The biggest story going into WWDC 2026 is Siri. Apple promised a smarter, more personal Siri all the way back at WWDC 2024, delayed those features in early 2025, and is finally expected to deliver them this year. The new Siri is reportedly built around a custom AI model developed in partnership with Google’s Gemini team, which Apple confirmed publicly earlier this year.
Expect a much more conversational assistant that can understand context, handle multi-step tasks, and pull information from across your apps. Things like asking Siri about a family member’s flight based on info from your Mail app, or asking it to do two things at the same time. There is also reportedly a new dedicated Siri app coming across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, with text and voice modes and full conversation history.
For Apple, this is essentially a make-or-break moment. They have been behind on AI for two years, and Wall Street is treating WWDC as the year’s biggest AI catalyst for the company.
iOS 27 Is a “Snow Leopard” Release
Multiple reports suggest iOS 27 will be a more scaled-back update focused on performance and stability rather than new features. Apple insiders are comparing it to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the legendary 2009 macOS release that was all about polishing what was already there. That means fewer flashy additions, more underlying improvements, and a focus on making Apple Intelligence actually work properly.
One welcome change rumoured to be coming is a Liquid Glass opacity adjustment, which addresses one of the most common complaints since the design language launched with iOS 26.
Apple Intelligence Across the Apps
Several apps are getting Apple Intelligence upgrades:
Camera is moving Visual Intelligence directly into the Camera app with a dedicated Siri mode alongside Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama. Photos is reportedly getting AI editing tools that let you extend, enhance, and reframe images without manual tools. Wallet is getting a receipt-scanning feature for bill splitting and a “Create a Pass” tool that turns QR codes into digital tickets. macOS 27 Says Goodbye to Intel
macOS 27 will be Apple Silicon only, which completes the transition Apple started back in 2020.If your Mac still has an Intel chip, this is where the road ends. You will not be getting macOS 27, though Apple has confirmed Intel-based Macs will continue to receive security updates for three more years. macOS 27 will also be the final version to support Rosetta 2, Apple’s translation layer that lets Intel apps run on Apple Silicon Macs. After this, developers will have to fully transition their apps to Apple Silicon natively.

watchOS 27 is getting new watch faces and improved heart-rate tracking, alongside the Health app overhaul
visionOS 27 is expected to be a stability and Siri-focused update
tvOS 27 is getting adjustable text size, which Apple confirmed in a recent accessibility press release
Hardware Is Unlikely but Possible
WWDC is primarily a software show, so hardware reveals are not guaranteed. That said, the Mac Studio is rumoured to be getting M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, the Mac mini is in line for an M5 refresh, and Apple’s long-rumoured smart home hub could finally get a tease at the event. None of this is confirmed though, so treat it as speculation.
Long Story Short
WWDC 2026 is shaping up to be Apple’s most consequential developer conference in years. The pressure is on them to prove that their AI ambitions are more than vapourware, and that Siri can finally do what they promised two years ago. The fact that it is also Tim Cook’s final keynote as CEO makes it even more interesting to watch.
